How to use FFP2 KN5 masks

Wash your hands thoroughly before putting on the mask.

Arrange it on our face, adjusting it perfectly and feeling comfortable, with the nose clip oriented towards the fingers. Let the elastic fastening straps hang freely. Arrange the mask on the face so that the bottom is below the chin and the nose clip over the nose.

Then take the elastic fastening straps and wear them behind the ears as shown in the figure below. Make adjustments to the nose clip with both hands to adjust it to the bridge of the nose and perform a fit test by covering the mask with both hands. Be careful not to move the mask. Exhale hard. If you notice large air leaks anywhere, reposition the mask.

When the mask shows the slightest sign of weakness or resistance to breathing, for your safety discard the mask. Keep these masks in an environment whose temperature does not exceed 50º, nor is it lower than 9º. Keep it stored in a cool and dry environment, always out of the reach of children.

The need to wear respiratory masks

If all people wear a mask, by preventing speech, exhalation, coughing or sneezing from transporting the virus-infected droplets past our face in public places (and conveniently discarding the masks after use, avoiding touching the face, etc.), the probability that those infected will transmit the disease is much lower.

The so-called safety distance is the perimeter around a person beyond which the probability of virus-infected droplets being transported to another person is very low. This distance or security perimeter has been stipulated to be two meters

Since last June, according to Ministerial Order published on May 20, 2020 in the Official State Bulletin (BOE), the use of a mask is mandatory throughout the national territory, in any case while being in closed public spaces and in cases in which the safety distance cannot be maintained in open public spaces, in persons aged six years and over.

Since last August, due to the increasing number of infections, the measures have been tightened and the different Autonomous Communities have decreed the use throughout their territory, both in closed public spaces and in open public spaces, whether or not the safety distance is respected.

However, there are some exceptions:

1) People who have some type of respiratory difficulty that may be aggravated by the use of a mask.

2) For duly justified health reasons, people in whom the use of a mask is contraindicated.

3) Those that due to their situation of disability or dependence present behavioral alterations that make their use unviable.

4) Development of activities in which, due to their very nature, the use of the mask is incompatible, such as the intake of food and beverages.

5) Force majeure or situation of need.

As smoking and wearing a mask is not compatible, the Ministry of Health since last August 14, due to the increase in outbreaks of COVID-19, has banned smoking in open spaces if the safety distance cannot be maintained.
